INTERMEDIATE FLY TYING CLASS - MASTERING DRY FLY TECHNIQUES

OVERVIEW: Regardless of the latest hot fly or fishing technique, it's hard to rival the enjoyment or satisfaction of raising then catching a fish on a dry fly! In this class we'll work through the many techniques needed to construct the basic patterns. We'll start with simple but useful flies, move on to parachutes and spinners, make hair wings, and follow up with classic Catskill patterns using hackle tip wings.
GOAL: At the end of this class, participants will leave with an enhanced knowledge of different techniques specific to tying Dry Flies. Students will tie as many different dry fly patterns as possible, in sizes that are fishable, and should depart with a solid skillset enabling them to tie any dry pattern that comes along, regardless of hatch!
PREREQUISITES: Students must be 12 years old or older. An intermediate level of fly-tying experience and skill is required for this class. Please bring your personal vice and tools if desired, though a vice and tools can be furnished with advance notice. All materials required to tie the hosted flies in class will be provided.

About The Instructor
Larry Antonuk began his fly tying journey in northern Wisconsin, tying jigs to support his father's walleye fishing habit. Since then he's studied with dozens of notable fly tyers, both at home and abroad. While living in Nottingham, England for three years he was an active member of the Fly Dresser's Guild. On his return to the states in 2003 he re-launched the Monadnock TU Chapter and began taking all the available weekend seminars held at Hunter's Angling in New Boston. In 2006 he was awarded a Traditional Arts Apprenticeship by the NH Council on the Arts, studying for a year with a Master artist in Concord. Five years later he received his Master Artist designation after taking on an apprentice of his own. Currently Larry focuses on tying traditional salmon flies for display in frames and domes. A juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen, he has demonstrated fly tying at the annual Sunapee Craft Fair for the last 15 years. He also teaches fly tying each winter in the Monadnock Region, both in Keene and Peterborough.
